I started work in insurance by a fluke of nature. I was an engineer prior and I had been laid
off 2 years into my first job out of college so I scrambled picking up multiple
jobs to get by. I sold cabinets for
Sears. Marketed chemicals for a chemical company and also taught tennis, which I played in
college. It was tennis that introduced me to a manager of insurance for a
captive organization.
Helping clients solve their insurance related problems was
something that I naturally excelled at and the company rewarded me. As my experience expanded, I started to
wonder if I always had the best product for each client as a captive
agent.
In 2008 I decided to go independent. That meant that I could contract with all the
top rated carriers that maintain the best prices and/or unique offerings. At

ideology of being a salesperson and replaced that persona with the heart of a
consultant and researcher.

per your age and conditions, they cannot deviate. No matter if you secure the deal from us or go directly to
the company so with that being the case it’s your brokers job to explain why
company A is the best for your case.
#3 As a broker who proudly specializes in several lines of
insurance and financial services, we have always delivered a better price or
more coverage when going up against a captive company and we have thousands of
clients. With that being said, it is possible that the price increment might
not be enough to warrant an immediate change but you never know.
